About Social Health
Welcome to: Sharing. Exchanging. Social Health!
Social Health -- otherwise known as SXSH -- is a day-long international Social Health un-conference (the Social Health Summit*) AND a movement that encompasses all aspects of healthcare -- patients, professionals, payers, providers, drug manufacturers, government, and more.
While each of these various healthcare "verticals" often meet and speak within each vertical on a regular basis, there are very few occasions when the entire spectrum of healthcare meets to speak across the verticals...
Yet, patients have to touch each and every area of these verticals when they need support for their health, so isn't solving problems in our own vertical simply pushing the bottle neck down to the next area along the healthcare spectrum that the patient encounters?
That's what SXSH hopes to solve -- to engender conversation across the entire heallthcare spectrum, as well as to provide an entry point for those interested in healthcare to find and connect with individuals across the spectrum.
In particular, SXSH hopes to facilitate and inspire conversations that are already taking place amongst the entire healthcare spectrum on social media platforms in order to help motivate us to solve problems across healthcare in new and innovative ways; ultimately bringing better care to patients.
*The Social Health Summit ("SXSH Un-Conference") is an annual event that consists of structured, previously announced presentations in the style of a TED conference, as well as an "un-conference" portion -- similar to PodCamp or HealthCamp -- where topics are decided by the participants. The inaugural Social Health Summit took place in Austin, TX, just prior to the 2010 South by Soutwest and it's success and popularity led to the adoption of a formal "health track" at the South by Southwest, starting in 2011.
