Meet the Organizers!
Shwen Gwee -- Founder, SXSH
Shwen is currently VP of Digital Health at Edelman’s NYC office, where he is responsible for leading and developing the digital health offerings and expertise within the (NY) Health Practice. Prior to Edelman, he spent 6+ years working on the "client side" of pharmaceuticals -- firstly at Sepracor (now Sunovion), then at Vertex Pharma -- where he contributed to a total of 3 brand launches and his most recent role was to lead digital strategy and social media within the marketing department. Shwen speaks regularly at various industry events and sits on a variety of advisory boards for industry-related organizations, including the 2011 South by Southwest (SXSW) Health Track. He is also heavily involved in the healthcare and social media space through the various initiatives that he's launched and/or hosts, such as: the Med 2.0 Blog, SocialPharmer Community, Social Health (SXSH) and PharmFresh.TV. Dana Lewis -- Co-Founder, SXSH
Dana (@danamlewis) is the interactive marketing specialist at Swedish, the largest non-profit health system serving the Greater Seattle area, where she implements and oversees the integration of social media and digital communications with health care. She coaches individuals from physicians to the CEO, develops eHealth strategies and programs, and built and administers the integrated Swedish blog. She is also the creator and moderator of #hcsm, the weekly Twitter chat on healthcare communications & social media, and co-created and co-organizes SXSH.
Jenni Prokopy -- Co-Organizer, SXSH 2011
Jenni is Founder/Editrix of ChronicBabe.com, where she draws on her experience with fibromyalgia and other conditions to teach women to live incredibly in spite of illness. She tweets @ChronicBabe, speaks onstage across the country, consults with amazing clients, and wants YOU to have FUN even if you’re sick! For 21 years (the past nine as an entrepreneur), Jenni has enjoyed success as a writer, editor and consultant to hundreds of organizations worldwide, helping them craft and share their messages. She focuses on working with health care organizations—sharing stories of strength, wellness and inspiration in the face of adversity.
Kerri Morrone Sparling -- Co-Organizer, SXSH 2011
Kerri has been living with type 1 diabetes for over two decades. She manages her diabetes and lives her life by the mantra “Diabetes doesn’t define me, but it helps explain me.” Kerri is the creator and author of www.SixUntilMe.com, one of the first and most widely-read diabetes patient blogs. Started in May 2005, Six Until Me has a strong and loyal readership comprised of people with diabetes and their caregivers. She has contributed to many diabetes-related websites and publications, and is a passionate advocate for diabetes awareness. She Tweets at @sixuntilme.
