KICKOFF KEYNOTE:
Todd Park — CTO, Health and Human Services
Todd joined HHS as Chief Technology Officer in August 2009. In this role, he is responsible for helping HHS leadership harness the power of data, technology, and innovation to improve the health and welfare of the nation. Mr. Park co-founded Athenahealth in 1997 and co-led its development over the following decade into one of the most innovative, socially-oriented, and successful health information technology companies in the industry. Prior to Athenahealth, he served as a management consultant with Booz Allen & Hamilton, focusing on health care strategy, technology, and operations. Mr. Park has also served in a volunteer capacity as a Senior Fellow at the Center for American Progress, where he focused on health IT and health reform policy, and as senior health care advisor to Ashoka, a leading global incubator of social entrepreneurs, where he helped start a venture to bring affordable telehealth, drugs, diagnostics, and clean water to rural India. Mr. Park graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard College with an A.B. in economics.

Ed Bennett — Director, Web Strategy at University of Maryland Medical Center
Ed manages web operations at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC), and has over fifteen years experience working on the Internet. He's worn many hats – programmer, designer, consultant, information architect, start-up participant, etc., but his current focus is the growing use of Social Media and its impact on health care. Ed is active in #HCSM (Health Care Social Media Community) and does occasional speaking engagements at industry conferences. He also sits on the Mayo Clinic for Social Media and A.D.A.M. Health Solutions Client Advisory Boards, and is a paid advisor to TPR Media and Ubicare.
Garth Holsinger — Global VP of Sales / Biz Dev at Klout
Garth is the Global Vice President of Sales and Business Development at Klout. And, according to his Twitter bio (@garthsklout), he's also a "writer, highway explorer, entrepreneur, father, [and] friend."
Jane Sarasohn-Kahn is a health economist and management consultant that serves clients at the intersection of health and technology. Her clients include all stakeholders in health, including providers, payors and plans; companies in biopharma, medical devices, financial services, technology and consumer goods; non-profits and NGOs. Sarah is a researcher, patient advocate, and navigator, serving as the CEO and Executive Director of Cancer 101, on the board of the Society of Participatory Medicine, and Director of Global Education at Pfizer.
ePatient Dave — ePatient Advocate and Activist (see: TEDx Maastricht Talk) *NEW
“e-Patient Dave” deBronkart was diagnosed in January 2007 with Stage IV, Grade 4 renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer) at a very late stage. His median survival time at diagnosis was just 24 weeks; with tumors in both lungs, several bones, and muscle tissue, his prognosis was “grim,” as one web site described it. An accomplished speaker and writer in his professional life before his illness, today Dave is actively engaged in opening health care information directly to patients on an unprecedented level, thus creating a new dynamic in how information is delivered, accessed and used by the patient. This is revolutionizing the relationship between patient and health care providers, which in turn will impact insurance, careers/jobs, quality of life and the distribution of finances across the entire spectrum of health care. With over 15 years of industry experience, Mark is an internationally recognized expert on topics including the Internet and the healthcare systme, new media, health information technology trends, mobile, social, and pharmaceutical sales and marketing.
Melissa Davies — Senior Account Director at NM Incite (Nielsen/McKinsey)
Melissa Davies (@melissadavies) provides strategic direction and thought leadership for key healthcare clients at NM Incite, a Nielsen/McKinsey company focused on social media intelligence. In this role, Melissa oversees integrated research and analytics for the company’s healthcare practice, which serves the top 15 largest pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. as well as biotech, consumer health, insurance providers, agencies and other healthcare clients. Melissa has led hundreds of research projects to study patient/consumer perceptions about multiple disease categories, emerging and established treatments, and key marketplace issues affecting the healthcare industry.
Leigh Fazzina — Principal at Fazzina & Co.
Leigh Fazzina is an award-wining healthcare communications pro and principal of Fazzina & Co. Communications Consulting, Inc. a healthcare communications and social media communications consultancy, and Social Media Director at healthcare PR agency, Sam Brown, Inc. With 17 years experience in developing and implementing integrated internal and external communications, Leigh’s work has run the gamut in healthcare communications from pharmaceuticals, to clinical trials and patient recruitment, to working for a medical society and its peer reviewed medical journal, and leading the PR at a cancer hospital. Leigh was most recently an Adjunct Instructor in the masters program at Temple University teaching healthcare communications, and since 2003 she has held a leadership position on the Executive Committee of the Public Relations Society of America’s Health Academy where she is currently the incoming President.
